A 24-year-old commercial driver was given a nine-month jail sentence by the Assin-Fosu District Court for biting a police officer’s fingers while resisting arrest.
Ebenezer Nkoom, the defendant, entered a guilty plea to 13 charges, including causing harm, committing illegal harm, resisting arrest, and other traffic offenses.
At the court, led by Abdul Majeed Illiasu, he asked for forgiveness.
General Constable Samuel Ayamba and Constable Sophia Essel, who were assigned to the Central North Regional Police Command of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), were the complainants, according to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Gilbert Ayongo.

While there, they came across the felon operating a Hyundai Atos taxicab with the license plate CR 1157-20. According to the prosecutor, the defendant picked up passengers at an undesignated location without giving other road users sufficient attention. The police officers contacted the driver and requested him to leave after warning him not to pick up passengers there. But he remained steadfast, saying he would keep picking up passengers from that location until the police detained every other driver who did the same.
Almost immediately after, the inmate returned to the same spot, which led to his arrest, according to Chief Inspector Ayongo.
