It has been discovered that the previous minister of sanitation and water resources’ residence was burglarized for a total of more than Ghs53 million.

This latest discovery comes in the wake of the controversy surrounding the several foreign and local currencies that the former Minister’s housekeeper is accused of stealing from her home.

On Friday, July 21, it was revealed that two of the Minister’s housekeepers were being prosecuted by the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly taking money of $1 million, $300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis in October 2022 from the former minister’s home in Abelenkpe, Accra.

Between July and October 2022, the two, Sarah Agyei, 30, and Patience Botwe, 18, are accused of stealing the couple’s money and personal belongings.

Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, however, asserts that he has reliable evidence from extremely reliable sources that more than GHS53,000,000 Ghana Cedis were stolen from the Minister’s home last year.

The Minister was able to retrieve some money from the two suspects, with the remainder currently being heard in court.

Speaking to TV3, Attorney Edudzi disclosed that the accused housekeeper had not yet reached the age of 18 at the time of the alleged crime and had instead been brought before a juvenile court.

“I know on authority the amount involved is more than Ghs53million” He said.

As a result of the affair, Madam Dapaah left her position.

She explained that she made the decision to resign “because I do not want this matter to become a preoccupation of government and a hindrance to the work of government at such a crucial time.”

She will be made whole, according to President Akufo-Addo.
