Rap superstar Black Sherif is the Artiste of the Year at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

To earn the honor, he bested seven other candidates, including Piesie Esther, Sarkodie, Joe Mettle, Stonebwoy, Camidoh, KiDi, and King Promise.

The ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ hitmaker has never before won the VGMA Artiste of the Year award.

Together with Kwaku The Traveller, Black Sherif won the Best Music Video Award, Most Popular Song of the Year, and Best Hip-Hop Song of the Year.

Following his victory, a delighted Black Sherif took the stage while singing the song he used to open his performance, Sad Boys Don’t Fold.

In his thank-you speech, he said, “I dedicate this award to my mother, father, and Konongo Zongo.” He also thanked everyone who has helped him throughout his career.

Later, as a farewell song, he sung the lyrics of Sad Boys Don’t Fold: “Sending love to my rastas…We’ll be great ‘nti moda a monda’ (if you sleep, sleep well).

Fans of Black Sherif are to anticipate his upcoming album in June.
