In a car crash, two Ghanaian students at Clemson University in the United States of America (USA) lost their lives.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, June 18, 2023, close to Elizabeth Drive on Highway 11.

Alberta Oduraa Quartey, 23, and Abena Gyamfua, 31, both of Clemson, were the victims, according to the coroner.

The coroner and troopers reported that both were passengers in a car that collided with an SUV.

The driver of the vehicle the students were riding in as well as another passenger were transported there.

Additionally, the SUV’s driver was taken to the hospital.

According to the university, Gyamfua was an English-majoring graduate student from Ghana.

“We were saddened to learn of Abena’s passing,” said vice president for student affairs and Dean of students Chris Miller. “The Clemson community sends thoughts and prayers to her family and friends as they grieve this tragic loss.”
